Knitting the Chain Pattern Baby Vest / For All Projects
Are you looking for a cute and cozy vest to keep your little one warm? Look no further than the chain pattern baby vest! This knitting pattern is perfect for beginners, and with its adorable chain stitch design, it's sure to be a hit with both you and your baby.
To get started, you'll need a few basic supplies:
Worsted weight yarn in your desired color
US size 8 (5 mm) knitting needles
A tapestry needle for weaving in ends
Once you have your supplies, it's time to get knitting!
Cast on your desired number of stitches (we recommend using a multiple of 4), and work in the following pattern:
Row 1: *K2, p2, repeat from * to end of row. Row 2: *P2, k2, repeat from * to end of row.
Repeat these two rows until your work measures the length you want for the back of the vest.
Next, you'll need to shape the armholes. You can do this by binding off a certain number of stitches at the beginning of two rows, then decreasing one stitch at each armhole edge on the next two rows.
Once the armholes are shaped, you'll begin shaping the neck. To do this, you'll need to work across the first set of stitches, bind off a certain number of stitches in the center of the row, then work across the remaining stitches.
Continue working in the pattern, shaping the neck and armholes as needed, until the vest reaches the desired length. Then, bind off all stitches and weave in any remaining ends.
And there you have it - a beautiful and cozy chain pattern baby vest that you can customize to your heart's content with different colors and yarns.
Happy knitting!
